Access to Academic Opportunity Grant
This grant exists to provide undergraduate students from traditionally underrepresented populations, who otherwise might not have access to quality education, an opportunity to reach their fullest academic and leadership potential.

Criteria for scholarship:
1. Recipients must be new, first-time, full-time, on-campus undergraduate students enrolled at Fort Hays State University.
2. Submit an essay of 600 words or less, which includes background, financial need, evidence of commitment to complete the program of study, care or service for the community, and any other information you feel supports the application.
3. Preference to first-generation college students. (The term refers to students from families where neither of their parents earned a four-year degree from a US College or University.)
4. Recipients are required to participate in the AAOG mentorship program
5. Recipients must complete required community service hours each semester
6. Recipients must be involved in at least one recognized on-campus student organization
7. Recipients must maintain a 2.50 GPA for yearly renewal.
