Southwest Kansas CattleWomen

1. Must be majoring in a division of agriculture, foods and nutrition and/or any beef related area.
2. Applicant must be a full time Junior, Senior or Graduate Student (male or female) attending a major four year university.
3. Be a permanent resident of one of the following counties in Southwest Kansas: Clark, Finney, Ford, Grant, Gray, Greeley, Hamilton, Haskell, Hodgeman, Kearny, Lane, Meade, Morton, Ness, Seward, Scott, Stanton, Stevens or Wichita.
4. Students may only receive the scholarship twice and may apply annually until receiving the award twice.
5. A completed application will include:
1. Application Form (can be obtained at www.kansascattlewomen.org) with a complete college transcript.
2. A letter of application that should include the following:
a) Your reasons for choosing your field of study and an explanation of how you believe your future goals will be used to promote the beef industry.
b) Work Experiences.
c) College and/or Community activities and achievement.
3. An essay, in 500 words or less, that covers a current topic in the beef industry.
4. Two letters of reference. Please make sure that references include contact information.
6. Recipient or representative will be request to attend the awards banquet during Beef Empire Days in Garden City, KS. The recipient will be recognized at this time.
7. Recipients will be required to make one presentation related to the beef industry. The presentation should be given to any non-agriculture group such as: elementary, junior or senior high school classes, or civic groups including, but not limited to, Kiwanis, Rotary, Lions, Changer of Commerce, Toastmaster, etc.
8. One half of the scholarship ($500) will be awarded for used in the fall semester. The remainder of the scholarship will be awarded for use in the spring semester following documentation of the recipient’s beef presentation as stated above and full time enrollment.
